Lisa Powers Field
Class of 1986 - Field Hockey, Basketball & Softball

In a long-standing tradition of great softball players that have passed through the doors of Stoneham High School, Class of 1986 graduate Lisa Powers was among the best.

Powers batted leadoff and hit .502 as a senior for the Lady Spartans, including a 5 for 5 effort against Lexington, leading her team to an impressive 21-3 record, a Division II North Title and a Co-Middlesex League Championship with archrival Reading. For her entire SHS career, Powers batted a solid .402.

Powers also took her turn on the mound posting a 4-0 record with a 1.79 ERA her senior year but was known more for her proficiency with the bat. Her hitting prowess led to Boston Globe All-Scholastic honors in her senior year.

She was honored as Middlesex League MVP and Division II Player of the Year in 1986. A two-time Middlesex League All-Star in softball, Powers was also a two-time All-Star in basketball.

During her senior season she averaged an impressive 15.6 points per game along with 10 rebounds. Powers achieved recognition as an All-Star in field hockey as a result of her defensive skills.

Powers was a captain in all three sports and finished her SHS career as the Spartan Blanket Award winner.

After graduating from Stoneham High, Powers attended UMass Lowell where she had a successful basketball career that culminated with an ECAC Division II Championship in 1990. Powers finished her senior season with a .519 career field goal percentage, a single-season school record, and a .450 career field goal percentage, also a school record. She was also a prominent rebounder, reaching double figures 12 times her senior year, including a 17 rebound game against New Haven. Her efforts led her to being named All-New England College Conference, second team.

Powers manages a pediatric dentist office in Stoneham and lives in Hopkinton with her husband John and their children Dennis and Greta.
