The spring season brought better fortune as the
Outdoor Track Team added the discus where Stoneham once again dominated
with Jack Angelesanto, Mark West and David Grasso often swept.
Warren would dominate the javelin and was joined by Al Finnegan and
Richard Cody in a sweep against Watertown. Cody would also dominate in
the 100 yard dash. John Holmes broke a school record against Melrose in
the pole vault with Al Paradiso finishing second.
They swept the mile
run against Concord, with Mike Palermo, Rick McCarthy and Eddie Farrell
cleaning up. Additional scorers were John Amarantides, Phil Angelosanto,
Kevin Bamberry and George Bell.
In the Middlesex League meet, Tom Hayes set a league record in the 2
mile while Dan Mahoney won the long jump and the high hurdles. The
Spartans would make it a clean sweep when they won the Class C State
